Open Friday 24th of April……
Autumn Skiing – not sure what to say about this….. Could be a little agricultural, sporty, or even a bit spicy. Just the way we like it.
We have got around 20-30cm over the last few days, lower down, more higher up, the shirt front tow will be open in the morning.
Plenty of snow about for some tussock jumping skiing, tobogganing and some good old-fashioned fun in the snow.
2WD you will need to fit your chains at Branch Creek, 4WD please carry them.
Robinson Lodge will be open for the weekend, so why not stay for a night or two, only $130 for the whole family per night. Snow play is $30 per family.
Let’s make the most of the snow while it lasts. 😊
The Annual Ski Sale is coming up on the 2 & 3 of May at the Canterbury University. A good chance to pick up some great second hand ski gear or some discounted lift pass and accommodation deals. For example we will be selling a nights accommodation and a day pass for the family for only $165.
Otherwise our next working bee weekend is on the 16th & 17th of May.
Remember, one day can reduce your subs by $40, two days bring them down by $80.
At the working bees, ongoing work will be happening on the huts and tows as well as roading repairs. As always, there is used equipment to take off the hill, firewood to do, weed whacking around the huts and maintenance on the tow lines, etc.
All and any hands are welcome, and of course, come up, stay and make a weekend of it!
A few will be heading up on Friday night.
Please email info@skihanmer.co.nz if you are going to join us.
Cheers,
Team Amuri

“New Zealand Club Fields offer a truly unique grass roots, pared back, low key snow experience in huge contrast to the larger resorts of today. It’s our belief that a day on the snow is about who you’re with, where you are and not how hot your gear is! ”
a grassroots snow experience at its best!
Hanmer Springs Ski Area is a friendly, fun ski area just 17km from the alpine resort town of Hanmer Springs. From the top of the field there are great views of the surrounding mountains of St James and Molesworth Stations and the distant peaks of the Nelson Lakes National Park.
There are a variety of groomed runs and off piste to choose from for all ages and stages of skill. Slopes can be viewed from the lounge in the Day Lodge so spectators don’t miss out and the beginner’s area is right beside it with excellent open terrain for kids. The ski area is ideal for the family or group of friends for a weekend away with fun filled runs for everyone.
There are three lifts - a Poma, a Rope Tow and the learners area with a Fixed Grip Tow. If you have never used a nutcracker before, Hanmer Springs is a good place to start !
The car park is at the base of the huts and it’s just a short walk to the tows. There are no queues so you can get in as many runs as your body can handle and the tows operate until you want to stop! The cosy mountain accommodation is backpacker style and is self catering, so don’t forget to bring supplies.
To top off a perfect day or weekend in the mountains a soak in the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools will ease the strain on the muscles. The village also has some great Restaurants and Bars, and even a nightclub for those with stamina!
Take a look around…
