Autumn Snow……. how cool was that to get open for a few days.
A big thanks to all who come to visit us on the 24th to 26th of April for our Autumn season. We had so much fun, and pretty sure it was a record for our earliest opening ever. As expected it didn’t last long, but we made the most of it.
Now it is time to wait and watch the forecast, as soon as we get enough snow we will open again…….

Hanmer Springs Ski Area is a friendly, fun ski area just 17km from the alpine resort town of Hanmer Springs. From the top of the field there are great views of the surrounding mountains of St James and Molesworth Stations and the distant peaks of the Nelson Lakes National Park.
There are a variety of groomed runs and off piste to choose from for all ages and stages of skill. Slopes can be viewed from the lounge in the Day Lodge so spectators don’t miss out and the beginner’s area is right beside it with excellent open terrain for kids. The ski area is ideal for the family or group of friends for a weekend away with fun filled runs for everyone.
There are three lifts - a Poma, a Rope Tow and the learners area with a Fixed Grip Tow. If you have never used a nutcracker before, Hanmer Springs is a good place to start !
The car park is at the base of the huts and it’s just a short walk to the tows. There are no queues so you can get in as many runs as your body can handle and the tows operate until you want to stop! The cosy mountain accommodation is backpacker style and is self catering, so don’t forget to bring supplies.
To top off a perfect day or weekend in the mountains a soak in the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools will ease the strain on the muscles. The village also has some great Restaurants and Bars, and even a nightclub for those with stamina!
